The Hairy-nosed Wonmbat
The Hairy-nosed Wombat is a marsupial of Australia. It's 33cms tall and 1metre long. It weighs around 35kgs. The wombat has short, powerful legs and strong claws that are used to dig burrows or search for suitable plants and roots to eat. It's fur is soft, silky, and mainly brown, mottled with grey, fawn and black. It has a broad head with black patches around their eyes. The ears are long and slightly pointed with tufts of white hair on the edges.
By day the Hairy-nosed Wombats sleep in a burrow. Although mostly solitary, these wombats often share burrows. At night the Hairy-nosed Wombats feed on coarse grasses, herbs and roots.
But now, the Hairy-nosed Wombat is one of Australia's most endangered marsupials.
